Debug functionality will be in the next release. It's a temporary setback while we work out a few issues.

Yes, they are coming along with some other items such as globalization for example. In terms of debug.trace, it'll be output to a given TEXTAREA that has an id="TraceConsole".
Will the old fieldset also be supported? It would be a bit of a pain if I had to add a textbox to a page when I needed to do debugging. I can still live with this textarea solution as long as the debug output still shows up in Visual Studio Output window (even if I don't have a textarea). Thanks!
